I was working on a project to send email notification but in dev environment, there was no access of SMTP and luckily I found a tool on code plex https://smtp4dev.codeplex.com. With this tool, you can test your mail sending without any SMTP.
Launch the tool, configure your SMTP link to localhost and you'll receive your emails to smtp4dev!
